Water can enter the property in a number of ways, from natural sources like creeks and streams, or less ideal ways like rainwater washing over a street and toward a family’s home. Keeping pollution from entering our lakes is as important as keeping the garden growing which is as important as keeping the floodwaters out of the basement. Especially living near or on a lakeshore or coastline beach has a big impact on the natural environment.

Urban Ecology strives to make sure that impact is as positive as possible by mimicking the natural environment in an aesthetic way, and importantly, a functional way as well.

Urban Ecology provides planning and implementation of mitigation efforts for Critical Areas such as coastal beaches, lakeshores, streams and wetlands throughout Whatcom County that are impacted by development.
